Charlie's Chatter - February 2010

golf club reviews tests pga show

Everyone knows or should know by now that the country has been through an economic downturn, and that includes our wonderful world of golf.

I just came back from spending four days around the 2010 PGA show -- A gathering which showed less new clubs and more new outfits.

Looking at the brighter side, less club manufacturer's booths meant wider aisles (easier to get around), and more time to visit with friends like:

  • Chip Brewer - Adams Golf
  • Pete Samuels - Ping
  • Todd Colburn - Cobra
  • Walter Rosenthal - Bobby Jones
  • Ron Pritchett - Ashdon Golf
  • Mary Nguyen - Wilson
  • Jay Hubbard - Tour Edge
  • Steve Boccieri - Heavy Putter
  • Will Carswell - Yonex
  • Jason Finley - Callaway
  • Keith Patterson - Cleveland
  • Chris McGinley - Titleist
  • Iver Maple - Mizuno
  • Gretchen Wilhelm - Nike
  • Jim Benton - STX
  • Bob Bettinardi - Bettinardi Putters
  • Bobby Grace - Grace Putters
  • Steve Sacks - Rife Putters
  • Francis Ricci - Yes! Putters
  • Richard Edmonson - Sky Golf
  • Michael Rossi - Aldila

Most of these people that I met with at the show appreciate Rankmark and our effort to build a bridge between the high quality products in this business and the golfing public.

People want to know which is the best driver, putter, etc...

By the way, did you notice the first test results since I am back? They showed a half dozen manufacturers that make very high quality hybrids. The two best manufacturers, TaylorMade and Bobby Jones, make hybrid clubs that are suggested for bogey players like me, and many of you.

Well, if you haven't noticed, please do!

Until then I remain,
"The Bogey Man"
